Alter - History and culture of Free Software

Free software offers many alternatives to proprietary digital tools. How can a complex subject be explained to a wide audience in a fun and dynamic way ?

This trailer aims to introduce the fictional series « Alter » on Arte TV by acquainting the audience with the basics of free software through its advantages. The characters, colours and the simplicity of the shapes and illustrations are designed to make the explanation highly accessible and engaging. The idea is to rework the graphic conventions and symbols typical of the digital world and of code so as to make them more approachable : the logo reveals, between the brackets of its tags, a «  user-friendly » face that makes this technical subject far more welcoming, despite the barriers to understanding and the apprehension it tends to provoke.
